I couldn’t put Marcus through that. I liked Del but I legit didn’t have it in me to make Marcus suffer more.

You’re a scumbag if you kill Del. Go through the whole game with him and JD only making brief appearances to just kill him right at the end. Even worse if your in co-op so you literally choose to kill your friend you played the whole game with.

If James death is cannon in Gears 6, then Marcus would most likely pull a Dom move and sacrifice himself. Dom sacrificed himself because he had lost everything, if JD is dead then Marcus would've done the same thing Dom did.

I love how everyone chose JD not because they liked him as a character, but because Marcus has lost enough already. R.I.P my boy Del

I think when they bring our gears 6 there should be three different campaigns that are based off of the two endings that we see hear and the third one will be based on the third choice which is saved them both. So each champagne takes starts with this particular moment if you pick the one with both you get both JD and his friend. So for example JDs if you pick the Champaign where it's just JD that survives the swarm win and defeat humanity. If you pick his friend they make peace with the Swarm. If you pick the the champagne based off of both surviving in gears six they defeat the swarm.

Why isn't there a 3rd option to throw the knife at the Tenticle monster instead of just sacrificing the two 🤦‍♂️

I remember playing all the gears games and read the comics. I picked Del, because…Marcus has gone through too much. He’s only keeping a brave face for his son and when he clocked on that his son that lost his brother in war, like he did. Marcus could be there for his son, just like how Anya, Jace, Sam and Dizzy were there for him with the loss of Dom. This shows character growth, no matter which side you pick. But I hope JD living is the canon side, unless they do a choose a side. I feel like then JD death’s would be a darker turn for 6 then. Only time will tell.

Honestly, one of the worst things Gears ever decided to do. Not a fan of it and I’ve been playing since 06’. Wonder how they’re gonna handle gears 6 regarding who you chose to save

I arrived late to the party (began playing Gears after Judgement dropped) went back and played 1, 2 and 3, alongside 4. Every. Single. Decision that was made in 5 was the wrong fucking decision. Decision 1: shifting focus from Phoenix to fucking Kait for their “strong female lead” Decision 2: even having the option to kill JD after knowing everything Marcus had gone through. It’s like they made 5 for people who never played any of the others. Seriously. This barely memorable character from 4 is a direct descendant of the current brood mother?! What writing is this?! Franchise should’a ended w 3 and got the Star Wars treatment of prequels showing how the war began. Almost like they’re doing now w E-Day

First playthrough, I saved Del without even thinking. After learning about what JD did and him acting like a massive jackass for the first half of the game, I was pretty salty towards him. Then I saw Marcus's reaction to hearing that his son, His Boy, was dead... And it was my fault. Second time around, I made sure to put my irritation aside for Marcus's sake.

JD killed Lizzie, he had to go. You have to remember Kait is making the decision, not Marcus. I did it both ways but the first time was the person who didn't recklessly get anyone killed.

It's a very very easy choice, i think they should've just avoided that choice stuff and go for Del's death by default instead. Any sane person will choose James, he's the son of a long time fan favorite protag et he's himself the main protag of GoW 4, Del is just a side kick

I picked JD for saved... For years Marcus Risk his life and ended the locust war. In gears four we found out Marcus loss his wife Anya. Although we do not know anything about dell's family.

I think we all agree we chose to sacrifice Del not because we liked James but because we liked Marcus a helluva lot more.

The only reason I’d have saved James is because he’s Marcus’s son but my play through I completely forgotten he was his son and because Del was with us the entire time and I just liked him more so I saved him instead of James. Again the ONLY reason to save James is more Marcus’s sake

I chose James the first time cause I knew the Marcus’s reaction was gonna hit that same place gears 3 did

The bottom is a war hardened father giving his son the support he needs after losing his best friend. Giving the support and compassion he needs. The top is also a war hardened father, but on the verge of tears for his fallen son. You can see in his face and hear it in his voice how that news immediately affected him.

I’m not the biggest fan of James. But Marcus deserved to not have to grieve what was left of his family. He lost his brother, his wife, a slew of friends. He deserved something.

I saved del simply because I wanted this choice to actually have an impact as in nobody really cared or like Del. I wanted Marcus to feel it and come back with even more vengeance...
